Since 1970, TVP has been Upper Dauphin County’s source for quality community theatre, and is Ned Smith Center’s Resident Community Theatre Company. TVP offers an annual summer musical, and annual children’s theatre camp, and a year-round performing “Roadshow.” As for community involvement, TVP offers Broadway-bound bus trips to New York City and annual scholarships. TVP is currently seeking contributions toward the renovation of the historic Colonnade Theatre in Millersburg.
Pennsylvania Regional Ballet, established in 1988, is Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art’s Resident Ballet Company. PRB is recognized in the community and throughout the Northeast region as a leader in the training of aspiring young dancers, teachers and choreographers.
Located across the river from downtown Harrisburg, the school’s progressive curriculum and diverse repertoire provide professional training in classical ballet, modern, tap and jazz relative to musical theatre, and contemporary ballet style, introduced through the company’s repertoire. International master teachers and choreographers are retained throughout the dancer’s training, offering valuable information and experiences to the student’s education.
The school and pre-professional company’s success has been through its commitment to provide professional dance training, nurture individual artistic quality and versatility, along with the faculty’s dedication to the emotional and physical well-being of the students.
The quality of Pennsylvania Regional Ballet’s programs is reflected in the accomplishments of its graduates. Our alumni are currently attending prestigious university dance programs, performing with professional companies, choreographing, teaching and serving as artistic directors.
The commitment of Pennsylvania Regional Ballet’s faculty and board of directors is to provide a center for professional training, guidance and education in classical ballet to its students, the community and the Central Pennsylvania region.
Gamut Theatre Group is the combined Theatre Company of Popcorn Hat Players Children's Theatre and Harrisburg Shakespeare Festival, whose mission is to tell classic stories in new and exciting ways for the entertainment and enlightenment of children and adults alike.
Harrisburg Shakespeare Festival is Ned Smith Center’s Resident Professional Shakespeare Company, and has presented Free Shakespeare in the Park in Harrisburg’s Reservoir Park for the past fifteen years. Once the Amphitheater is complete, HSF will bring Shakespeare to Millersburg.
