*A note to hikers:
Timber harvesting has begun just south of the Rail Trail. Due to logging activity, Mountain Laurel and Drumming Log Trail will be shut down temporality until harvesting operations are complete. Please use caution when recreating on the Rail to Trail due to log truck traffic which will be occurring mostly in the mornings Monday through Friday. Enjoy a relaxing evening of original poetry and music on the Riegle Deck. Simply sit back and enjoy performances from regional poets, storytellers and musicians. The Ned Smith Center is pleased to host this event with Perry County Council on the Arts.

August 7 - November 13, 2010 - The Wildlife Art of Ned Smith Exhibit at the Mechanicsburg Museum Association
Several Ned Smith originals will be on display through November at the Freight Station Museum, including A Little Bit Cautious, American Wigeon, Emperor of China, Winter Cardinals and many more.

Thursday, September 16, 2010; 7 p.m. - How Healthy Is Our Water?
This program, led by Michael Yanchuk, Watershed Specialist for Dauphin County Conservation District, will discuss results of a five-year stream study. Come see how aquatic insects can indicate stream health, and find out the results of streams near you.

Thursday, October 14, 2010 - Pennsylvania Barn Owls
Dan Mummert, Wildlife Diversity Biologist with the Pennsylvania Game Commission, will present a program outlining a statewide conservation initiative being carried out by the PGC to learn more about this rare owl and help to slow its decline. Topics discussed will include: barn owl biology, conservation issues affecting their population, banding of nestlings, and barn owl nest boxes.
