Entry and Deadline
• Include a completed entry form which must be taped to the back of the original artwork.
 Entry must be postmarked by Tuesday, June 1, 2010 or hand-delivered by 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, June 1, 2010 to:

Requirements
Not following the rules below will mean immediate disqualification.

• Artists must be in/or equivalent to grades 1 through 12 during the school year of 2008-09.
• Artwork must include flora or fauna that is native to North America. Artwork depicting species not native to North America will be disqualified. All subjects depicted in the artwork must be identified (scientific and common name) and listed on the entry form. Submitted artwork can include any of the following native to North America:

Wildlife -Mammals, birds, amphibians, fish, reptiles, invertebrates (crustaceans, insects or spiders, etc.). The animals represented in the artwork must be wild animals, not domesticated animals.
Flora -Wildflowers, berries, trees, shrubs, leaves, ferns or fungi.

• All submitted work must not exceed 11" x 14".
• No three-dimensional work will be accepted.
• Any medium is accepted: pencil, charcoal, watercolor, oil, etc. PLEASE NOTE: Pastels or charcoal must be sprayed to prevent smearing.
• Artwork will not be accepted if it is matted, framed, or altered with any type of mounting, backing material, or layers of additional paper.
¨ Photographs and computer-generated artwork will not be accepted.
¨ No signatures or initials may appear on the front of the artwork.
¨ Only one entry per student will be permitted.
• Students should not copy published artwork (it's called plagiarism), however, if a student has gained inspiration from a published piece of artwork (photos included), then acknowledgement and credit must be placed on the entry form and include the following information:

• Name of publication (National Wildlife, PA Game News, etc.)
• Date published
• Full name of artist
• Title of artwork


The Ned Smith Center reserves the right to hold the submitted artwork for display, publication and reproduction.

Prizes

• Prizes will be awarded in each category (1st - 3rd grade, 4th - 6th grade, 7th - 9th grade, 10th - 12th grade).
¨ The winners will be notified by mail.
¨ All participants will receive a Ned Smith Center Signature Series patch.
All winners (1st, 2nd, 3rd and Honorable Mentions) will receive a Certificate of Award, a ribbon and additional prizes.
