Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art Summer Internship

Summer Internship Overview: The Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art in Millersburg, Pennsylvania is seeking college level students who have successfully completed their first year of college and are pursuing a degree in environmental education, a conservation related field or art(s) education related studies to apply for a summer internship position. This three month position will begin Monday June 3, 2019 and conclude Friday, August 23, 2019.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate a variety of environmental education programs and/or summer camps for the public
  • Assist in the management of the Annual Youth Art Contest
  • Completion of a summer intern project
  • Photographing events and summer camps
  • Documenting attendance at each event
  • Assist in managing invasive species and maintaining grounds surrounding the Center as needed

Position Qualifications:

  • Successful completion of one year of college coursework at an accredited college or university
  • Pursuing a degree in environmental education, art(s) education, conservation, or related field
  • Must have a sincere interest in working with young people in a hardworking and supportive, energized community of educators
  • Understanding of basic natural history and environmental education concepts
  • Ability to relate to individuals and groups in a warm, positive manner
  • Strong communication skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Willing to undergo all state and federal background checks
  • First Aid/CPR certification preferred

Compensation: $10/hour for a maximum of 40 hours a week
