Friday and Saturday, July 19 & 20 – Shakespeare in the Woods: Julius Caesar
“Friends, Romans, Countrymen, lend me your ears…” Gamut Theatre, the combined theatre of Harrisburg Shakespeare Company and Popcorn Hat Players Children’s Theatre, presents its highly anticipated educational engagement production of Julius Caesar. One of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies, Julius Caesar depicts the political conspiracy that leads to the assassination of one of the most powerful and successful leaders of the Roman Empire and the aftermath of this chilling historical event. The play explores hubris vs. humility and friendship vs. patriotism: “Et tu, Brute?”
Recommended for ages 12 and up, the production is extremely accessible, employing Gamut’s unique educational outreach style of combining Shakespeare’s original text with modern “narrations” to bridge the most famous scenes from the play together into an easy-to-understand story. Saturday, July 27 – Ned Smith Nature and Arts Festival Presented by Riverview Bank
Stop by the Ned Smith Center between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. to join in on a free day of family fun, over 20 programs that range from Dinosaurs to Chemistry to Music! Food and craft vendors on site and the Gahres Children’s Area where kids can make their fish print t-shirts and get their faces painted. With so much going on this is bound to be a great day of nature and art!

Led by John Rupp, an amazing, one-of-a-kind talent hailing from Halifax, PA, The JJ Rupp Band is captivating audiences up and down the East Coast with its heart felt, grass-roots approach to Rock & Roll. Friday, August 9 – SHOTGUNN!
Last show of the season! Shotgunn got its start in the 1970s, playing gigs all over the Lykens Valley. They reunited in the early 2000s, playing benefit concerts for organizations all over the place. Shotgunn plays rock and funk hits from the ’60s and ’70s, anything from Chicago, and Blood Sweat and Tears to Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Jefferson Airplane.
