Saturday, July 14 – Cruise Control and opener No Last Call 

Join us as we welcome back one of Harrisburg’s most rockin’ and entertaining street band, No Last Call. Stay and enjoy rock, pop and soulful jazz music with Erin Cruise and her band. Sponsored by Carole DeSoto.

Wednesday and Thursday, July 18 & 19 – Junior Naturalist Camp

Learn and hone in on the skills, techniques and experiences used by Ned Smith himself as he observed the natural world. Students will also create and utilize nature journals to express their thoughts, conclusions, and observations. Students will have the opportunity to observe hummingbird banding and learn about night lighting, a way to attract moths at night. Become a NSCNA summer camp naturalist and immerse yourself in the natural world.
DATE: Wednesday, July 18 and Thursday, July 19, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
AGE: 10-16
FEE: $70 per student

Friday and Saturday, July 20 & 21 – Shakespeare in the Woods

“Something wicked this way comes…” Gamut Theatre, the combined theatre of Harrisburg Shakespeare Company and Popcorn Hat Players Children’s Theatre, presents its highly acclaimed educational outreach production of Macbeth.  One of Shakespeare’s most famous tragedies, Macbeth follows the rise and fall of a Scottish lord-turned-King, whose ambition turns him into a brutal murderer consumed by the dark arts. Recommended for ages 12 and up. Keep the smaller print “Bring your own price, any size….” Sponsored by Kyle Kauffman.

Saturday, July 28 – 25th Annual Nature and Art Festival

Join us for this annual FREE celebration of nature and the arts; the perfect way to celebrate summer! To be held for the first time at the Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art, 176 Water Company Rd., Millersburg, PA. The day will include food and craft vendors, education and art presentations, make-it-yourself bluebird boxes, live-animal demonstrations and fish-print t-shirts.

TIME: Opens 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Concert afterwards begins at 5:30 p.m.

ADMISSION: FREE

Saturday, August 4 – After Hours Big Band 

After Hours Big Band is a 17 pc. swing orchestra playing anything from the traditional big band arrangements of Glenn Miller, Benny Goodman, and Les Brown to the modern era sounds of big band artists such as Maynard Ferguson and Brian Setzer, The After Hours Big Band covers it all. Sponsored by BB&T Bank

Saturday, August 11 – Kilmaine Saints 

This Explosive, high energy Celtic rock band from Central Pennsylvania will lift your hearts, your spirits and your pint when you’re not looking. With several hundred shows up and down the east coast, two critically acclaimed releases under their belts, national and international airplay and an ever-expanding and extremely loyal fan base, it’s no wonder the world is starting to stand up and take notice. Friday, August 24 – Clay Shoot

Enjoy a round of 100 clay birds, a cocktail hour and awards dinner, and a silent and live auction. Plus, you’ll have the opportunity to meet and shoot with dozens of central Pennsylvania business leaders.  And all the while, you’ll be supporting the Center and our unique and dynamic education programming.

TIME:  9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. – Registration and Shooters’ Practice
LOCATION: Blue Ridge Sportsmans Club
ADMISSION: $250/individual, $1000/team of 4

Saturday, September 8 – Tröegs Rugged Trail Run

Celebrate the Center’s 500 acres of rustic woodland beauty at the Tröegs Rugged Trail Run for Conservation!  The Center is thrilled to partner with Tröegs Brewing Company for this exciting event!  This year’s proceeds will directly help support funding for our new outdoor play area opening spring of 2018!

TIME: Registration begins at 4:00 p.m.

Friday, September 14 – A Country Gala

The Gala is one of the Center’s premiere fundraising events, and we hope you will join us in celebration of nature and the arts on Friday, September 14 at 6:30 p.m. right here at the Center, 176 Water Company Rd, Millersburg, PA. This great evening features food stationslive and silent auctions, musical entertainment and so much more!

Saturday, September 22 – Shotgunn 

Last show of the season! Shotgunn got its start in the 1970s, playing gigs all over the Lykens Valley. They reunited in the early 2000s, playing benefit concerts for organizations all over the place. Shotgunn plays rock and funk hits from the ’60s and ’70s, anything from Chicago, and Blood Sweat and Tears to Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Jefferson Airplane. There’s something for everyone. Sponsored by Fred and Anne Meckley.
