Saturday, April 28 – Carlee Seele Reception

Please Join The Ned Smith Center and Carlee Seele as we celebrate her wonderful exhibit in the Romberger Gallery of the Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art. Carlee is local artist from New Cumberland who works in kiln and torch fired glass and jewelry. She will be present at the reception for a meet and greet. Light refreshments will be served. Admission to the Galleries will be free at this time. Preregistration is highly suggested. Call 717-692-3699 to register.

April 28 and May 5, Spring Bird Walks

Spring is an exceptional season for viewing migrating birds. Join our experienced leaders for one or both mornings to learn about identifying birds in the field. Not an early bird? Don’t worry. You will find us in the parking lot for the first 30 minutes observing birds and getting accustomed to using our optics. Novice birders and families are welcome! Binoculars provided. Pre-registration suggested, but not required. Free admission, donations accepted.
Time: 7:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Saturday, May 5, 2018: Broadway’s Boogie Pianoman: Wade Preston

Wade Preston, from Billy Joel’s Broadway hit Movin’ Out, delivers an impeccable show with the time honored favorites and original compositions. It’s not often a man can sit (or in Wade’s case, stand) in front of a piano or keyboard and command full attention, but Mr. Preston can drop a stadium full of jaws, keeping his audiences engaged and participating. Saturday, May 19 – Ann Kerstetter 

Take a woman with a voice reminiscent of the velvet of Etta James and the gravel of Janis Joplin. Add extremely talented musicians who blend as a single unit with her to bring it all back home to you, the Ann Kerstetter Band is one hard act to follow.

Saturday, June 2 – Pennsylvania Regional Ballet 

Join the Ned Smith Center’s cultural partner, Pennsylvania Regional Ballet for a showcase performance of selected pieces in varying styles. Let them jeté right into your heart! Please note, as to not put our dancers in danger this show may be altered due to weather. Sponsored by Jim and Becky Ulsh

Saturday, June 2 – Fishing for Families:

Join us for a great day of aquatic adventures at the Ned Smith Center. Families are invited to experience the joy and excitement of fishing with up-and-coming anglers while also learning about the aquatic ecosystem of the Wiconisco Creek. Participants will learn and practice proper casting techniques before fishing along the creek. Fishing tackle and equipment are provided. All participants must wear closed-toe, hard soled shoes that can get wet. Each child will receive a spincast rod and reel at the conclusion of the camp. Special thanks to our program partners Bass Pro Shops, Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission and Doc Fritchey Chapter of Trout Unlimited who allow us to offer the camp at a reduced fee.
Date: Saturday, June 2 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Age: 8-17
Fee: $18/student; parents are welcome and encouraged to attend this camp free of charge.

Saturday, June 9 – Pentagon

Rich Clare Pentagon Band is a six-piece show band that plays rock ‘n’ roll and R&B. Formed in 1971, the band showcases music from Wilson Picket, Smash Mouth, Buddy Holly, U2 and much  more. The band plays a full schedule year-round including casinos, dances, fairs, fundraisers, carnivals and more. Two original members of the band Rich Clare and Jim Colestock still perform with the band – and do it well! Sponsored by the Enders and Susquenita High School Class of ’68.
